Josh Gordon 2018 Outlook: The NFL Version of Last Chance U
6 years agoThis is it for Cleveland wide receiver Josh Gordon. Out of a potential 64 games played over the last four seasons, Gordon has played in exactly 10 of them. You may have legitimately lost count of how many times he has been suspended. The Gordon truthers out there are still clinging to that epic 2013 season where, if you recall, Gordon spent the first two games on the sidelines because he was suspended! When you draft Gordon, you are assuming the risk of another possible suspension. It seems like he is a changed man and finally past that part of his life, but you just never know. Last year, Gordon played in five games and while extrapolating a small sample size is risky, he was on pace for over 1,000 receiving yards and that was with hot garbage at QB.
His 42.9% catch rate is more on his QBs than him. With all that being said, anyone expecting 2013 Josh Gordon to walk through that door will surely be disappointed. Gordon will definitely be a useful fantasy WR when he's on the field in 2018, but the Browns have a ton of competition for touches and targets. In the third round, going ahead of guys like Larry Fitzgerald, T.Y. Hilton, Tyreek Hill, and Allen Robinson, Gordon is being overvalued this season. Owning Gordon is fine, but not at his current price.
