Josh Bailey Hitting Free Agency After Buyout
10 months agoJosh Bailey is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the Chicago Blackhawks placed him on unconditional waivers for the purposes of a buyout. The Blackhawks acquired Bailey from the New York Islanders on Thursday along with a second-round draft pick for future considerations. He had no future in New York and clearly wasn't seen as a fit in Chicago either. By getting rid of Bailey, the Islanders opened up $5 million of cap space. The veteran was a loyal servant for the Islanders, suiting up in 1,057 games for the team while posting 580 points, but his level of play dropped drastically last season and a divorce is probably the best for both parties.
