Jose Iglesias Agrees With Orioles
5 years agoThe Baltimore Orioles agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with shortstop Jose Iglesias on Monday, according to a source. The deal includes a 2021 team option that would make the deal worth $6 million over two years. Iglesias will replace Jonathan Villar at the 6 and at the top of the order after Baltimore traded him to Miami this offseason. The 30-year-old is a defensive wizard with the glove but also hit .288/.318/.407 with a career-high 11 home runs, 59 RBI and six stolen bases in 146 games with the Reds last year. While it was a resurgent season offensively for Iglesias, you shouldn't count on him repeating those numbers for a rebuilding O's franchise. Iglesias' previous career high in homers was six in 2017.
