Jose Alvarado Dealing With A Tight Left Wrist
Jose Alvarado (wrist) was unavailable for Tuesday's contest against the Toronto Blue Jays, as he's experiencing tightness in his left wrist, according to MLB.com. However, the 27-year-old isn't concerned and told reporters that he hopes to pitch Wednesday if the club needs him. Alvarado has enjoyed his best season so far in a Major League uniform, posting a 1.88 ERA, 46.2% strikeout rate, 0.70 WHIP, and has yet to walk anyone over 14.1 innings. The success has led manager Rob Thompson to use him as the primary closer, racking up a team-leading five saves. Fantasy managers should assume Alvarado holds onto that role if his dominance continues.
