Jose Altuve Takes BP Again Tuesday
6 years agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hamstring, knee) took batting practice on the field for the second straight day on Tuesday since he was pulled from his rehab assignment. He showed strength pushing off his back leg on his swing follow-through, which has been his most pressing issue. Altuve has been out since May 10 but also took ground balls for the second day in a row and will run again on Wednesday after doing so on Monday. Altuve was hitting .243/.329/.472 with nine home runs, 21 runs, 21 RBI and a steal in 144 at-bats before his injury. He'll still need to finish a rehab assignment before returning, but he's getting closer to returning. The 29-year-old's power numbers have been a nice sight to see, but his owners will hope that he'll run more when he returns from the injured list.
