Jordan Zimmermann Expected To Start Wednesday
5 years agoDetroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said he expects starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann (elbow) to be activated from the injured list and start on Wednesday against the Pirates. The skipper said Zimmermann is "supposed to be able to go 70 pitches." The 33-year-old has been out since April 25 with a partially torn UCL in his right elbow. He was 0-4 with a 5.93 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 21 K's in 30 1/3 innings over his six starts, so he wasn't exactly helping fantasy owners before the injury. Zimm shouldn't be owned in mixed leagues at this point in his career and is much too risky to stream in the rest of leagues in his first start back.
