Jordan Walker Takes A Seat Wednesday
1 year agoSt. Louis Cardinals rookie outfielder Jordan Walker will start Wednesday's contest against the Washington Nationals on the bench. It will be a regular day of rest for Walker, who is in the midst of a 13-game hitting streak. Over that 13-game stretch, he's gone 18-for-45 (.400) with four homers, three doubles, eight RBI, a stolen base, five walks and six runs scored in 51 trips to the plate. After a brief demotion to the minors, the 21-year-old former first-rounder has been as advertised, and he's now hitting over .300 on the season with six long balls, six doubles, 19 RBI and 15 runs scored in his first 37 big-league games. Walker is a must-start anytime he's in the lineup. Lars Nootbaar is in left field and batting third on Wednesday, while Dylan Carlson is in right and hitting seventh against Nationals right-hander Trevor Williams.
