Jordan Balazovic Suffers Broken Jaw
2 years agoMinnesota Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey announced on Saturday that top-100 pitching prospect Jordan Balazovic (jaw) will miss the start of spring training for the second straight year after he suffered a broken jaw in "an altercation away from the field." He had surgery to wire his jaw shut last Sunday and is currently unavailable. It's disappointing for the Twins, especially after he had a 7.68 ERA in 72 2/3 innings between Single-A and Triple-A in 2022. Balazovic could play catch as soon as seven to 10 days, but the Twins aren't pleased with him. The 24-year-old righty pitched in the 2019 All-Star Futures Game. The former fifth-rounder is currently the team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but several different injuries have slowed him down in recent seasons.
