Jonnu Smith Reaches Deal With Patriots
4 years agoFormer Tennessee Titans tight end Jonnu Smith reached an agreement with the New England Patriots on Monday on a four-year, $50 million deal, according to Smith's agent, Drew Rosenhaus. The deal includes $31.25 million fully guaranteed. The $12.5 million per-year average places Smith third among tight ends behind only George Kittle and Travis Kelce. The guaranteed money is tops at the position. Smith had 114 catches for 1,302 yards and 16 touchdowns in his four seasons with the Titans and has averaged 6.8 yards after the catch in his career. He's an immediate upgrade for quarterback Cam Newton at a position that New England has struggled at since Rob Gronkowski left. The 25-year-old Smith should be one of the team's top pass-catchers in his new home, making him a no-doubt TE1 target in 2021 fantasy drafts.
