Jonathan Quick Keeps Game Close, Kings Fall in Shootout
5 years agoLos Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick turned aside 30 of 31 shots from the Avalanche on Saturday night before allowing only a single goal in the shootout. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Quick, which had been a welcome relief compared to the eight previous starts where Quick failed to earn a single win. A save percentage of .898 percent on the season, paired with the third-lowest goals scored per game (2.48) in front of him, give fantasy managers very little reason to trust Quick on a nightly basis. Quick is still the starter in Los Angeles, but he has been alternating starts with Calvin Petersen ever since Jack Campbell was traded to Toronto. That time split will likely continue as the Kings have clearly turned their eyes toward the future by being fully committed sellers for this year's trade deadline. Between inconsistent performance, lack of goal support, and decreasing opportunities, Quick is better left on the waiver wire.
