Jon Duplantier Likely To Miss Start Of Season
5 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Jon Duplantier (elbow) "slowly initiated a throwing program" as he works his way back from elbow issues that popped up in April, according to manager Torey Lovullo. The skipper said it's safe to assume that Duplantier will not be ready in time for Opening Day on July 24. The right-hander had a 4.42 ERA in 36 2/3 innings as a rookie in 2019 and has a history of arm issues dating back to his college days at Rice. The 26-year-old likely would've started the year in the minor leagues if COVID-19 hadn't happened, but now he's likely to start on the injured list and might not see much major league action in the 60-game season. Duplantier is a dynasty league stash and not a redraft option.

Jon Duplantier Signs Minor-League Deal With Phillies
2 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies signed free-agent right-hander Jon Duplantier to a minor-league deal on Friday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Although seven of Duplantier's 19 major-league outings in two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks came as starts, he'll likely be competing for a spot in Philadelphia's Opening Day bullpen this spring. He did not make it to the big leagues in 2022 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he had a 4.80 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, 109 strikeouts and 57 walks in 93 2/3 innings over 34 outings (14 starts) for Triple-A Oklahoma City. If he makes the Opening Day roster, he can be ignored in all fantasy leagues. The 28-year-old has given up 37 earned runs on 58 hits while walking 26 and striking out 46 in 49 2/3 big-league innings.
