Johnny Cueto To Return Sunday Against Padres
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto (lat), who has been on the 10-day injured list since April 16 with a Grade 1 lat strain beneath his right shoulder, is expected to be activated and return to the mound on Sunday against the San Diego Padres. It's uncertain what his return will mean for Logan Webb, who has been filling in for Cueto. Anthony DeSclafani will go on Friday in the series opener, while Kevin Gausman will pitch on Saturday. Cueto had a 1.80 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 20 innings with only four walks in three starts before his injury. Since April 16, San Fran's starters have a 2.44 ERA, the best in baseball during that span. While he's looked like vintage Cueto so far this year, fantasy managers should be wary about using him in his first game back against the potent Padres offense.
