John Carlson, Dmitry Orlov Remain Sidelined Wednesday
2 years agoWashington Capitals defensemen John Carlson (lower body) and Dmitry Orlov (lower body) will remain out of the lineup Wednesday versus Pittsburgh despite being present at the morning skate. Carlson has sat out five games, while Orlov missed Monday's 5-4 win over Edmonton. Erik Gustafsson had a three-point performance against the Oilers and will continue to benefit from the injuries, while the blue line is getting a new addition Wednesday in Alexander Alexeyev (shoulder), who has been activated from Injured Reserve. The 22-year-old managed 19 points in 68 AHL games last season but didn't produce any offense in his lone game at the NHL level. He will be on the bottom pairing and likely won't be able to make a significant impact.
