Joey Gallo Removed Early With Illness
1 year agoMinnesota Twins first baseman/outfielder Joey Gallo (illness) was removed from Wednesday's game early against the Seattle Mariners with an illness. Gallo snapped a long hitless stretch in the contest before leaving with a double, and he finished 1-for-3 with an RBI, run scored and two strikeouts before being replaced by Donovan Solano late in the game at first base. The Twins are off on Thursday, so the 29-year-old left-handed slugger has a good shot to return for the series opener on Friday against the Kansas City Royals. Gallo has continued his all-or-nothing ways in 2023 with the Twins, as he came into Wednesday's game hitting just .175 with a .292 on-base percentage but with a .741 OPS and 17 home runs in 223 at-bats.
