Joe Ryan Pitches Gem on Saturday
Joe Ryan turned in yet another strong performance in the team's 3-2 loss to the Houston Astros on Saturday. Ryan did not factor into the decision, but he fired seven innings of two-hit, two-run ball with seven strikeouts and two walks before departing. His only real mistake was the two-run homer he allowed to Astros catcher Yainer Diaz in the third inning. After tallying his seventh quality start of the year, Ryan owns a 2.93 ERA with a superb 89:17 K:BB and a minuscule 0.90 WHIP across 80 innings. He'll make his next start against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Ryan dominated the Brewers on May 16 with six scoreless innings, two hits allowed, and nine strikeouts in a 3-0 win.
