Joe Musgrove To Throw This Week
6 months agoSan Diego Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove (elbow) is expected to resume playing catch on Wednesday or Thursday of this week, which will be the first time that he's thrown since going on the injured list with a bone spur in his right elbow on June 1. Surgery to remove the bone spur is possible, but as of right now, Musgrove is going with the rest and rehab route. The 31-year-old veteran is also going to make adjustments with the grip of his new slider and the landing of his delivery in an attempt to keep his arm healthy the rest of the year. Even if Musgrove avoids surgery, he's not going to be an option again for fantasy managers until late July or early August. The former first-rounder also missed the end of 2023 due to injury and didn't look good upon his return this year, going 3-4 with a bloated 5.66 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with a career-low 20.6% strikeout rate and 10 homers allowed in 10 starts.
