Joe Burrow Led The League In Batted Passes Last Year
Joe Burrow led the league in batted passes at the line of scrimmage in 2022 with 25. Batted passes resulted in five of Burrow's 14 interceptions -- nobody else in the league had more than two. There were only 27 other batted-pass interceptions for the rest of the NFL in 2022. The Bengals could add more play-action or run-pass options to slow opposing defensive lineman from sitting back and waiting to put their hands up against the quick-pass game. However, Burrow had passes batted at a higher percentage when using play-action out of the shotgun last year than not. The addition of more play-action for the Bengals offense this year won't necessarily create more long-developing explosive plays down the field, but Burrow and Company can still hit on those plays at any time.
