Joaquin Niemann Primed For A Breakout Performance

Joaquin Niemann enters this week's Travelers Championship in strong form. Last week at the U.S. Open, the former Greenbrier Classic winner gained 3.2 strokes off the tee and 3.9 strokes on approach, good for his best ball-striking week since the Sony Open in January. Niemann's biggest issue has been his short game, but even that is trending in the right direction. Niemann only lost one stroke around the green at the U.S. Open, good for his best short-game week in over a month. His 31st-place finish last week could have been even better had he not lost over a stroke putting. Fantasy managers should not be discouraged by a faulty putter, as Niemann is more than competent in that category, and he had gained strokes with the flat stick in his seven preceding starts. The last time Niemann lost strokes putting, he rebounded by gaining 3.3 strokes putting in his next start. Expect the young Chilean to reward fantasy managers with a high finish this week at TPC River Highlands.
