Jimmy Garoppolo Not Worried About Brandon Aiyuk
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo isn't worried about wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk's slow start (one catch for six yards in two games) this season. "Honestly, he does a great job in practice every day. He brings it — right attitude, right mindset," Garoppolo said. "I think, honestly, it's just a matter of time. And I know there's a lot of panic and things like that in the air." Aiyuk had a team-high 748 receiving yards in 2020 as a rookie despite missing four games, and he was a target on 17.3 percent of the team's throws. The Niners continue to say that Aiyuk's slow start was due to a late-August hamstring strain that kept him from practicing. The 23-year-old should slowly start to see more snaps and more targets the further he gets from his hamstring injury, but until that happens, he'll be a risky flex play for fantasy managers.
