Jimmie Johnson Carries His Winless Streak To Martinsville
5 years agoWhen the green flag drops Wednesday night for the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500, Hendrick Motorsports' Jimmie Johnson will start 21st. Although the starting position provides the opportunity to score a significant number of points for fantasy owners, the third-winningest Cup Series driver at Martinsville is far from the must-start reputation that he once held. In his last six trips to NASCAR's shortest track, Johnson has posted an average finish of 19th while failing to secure any top-10 finishes while leading a total of 24 laps. Johnson has the pedigree and starting position to be a fantasy darling this week, but the warning signs are there for an unimpressive performance.
