1 year agoNew York Mets closer Jeurys Familia has consistently been listed as the team’s top trade target --assuming they don’t trade starting pitchers Jacob deGrom and/or Noah Syndergaard -- but for that to be true he’ll need better outings than he had on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Entering the ninth inning with a 3-1 lead, Familia blew the save by allowing four earned runs on three hits and a walk without recording a single out. That’s a rough one. The disaster raises Familia’s ERA on the season from 2.41 all the way up to 3.48. For now, we’ll treat this as a small bump in the road, but considering he recently dealt with shoulder soreness, this could end up being an issue to monitor.--John Smith
