4 years agoOakland Athletics left-handed pitcher Jesus Luzardo made his first nine career starts in 2020 and had a 4.12 ERA (101 ERA+), but he had a 45 percent whiff rate on curveballs and changeups. The 23-year-old would've also had a 2.93 ERA on the year if two of his poor starts, in which he allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings, were removed. He also finished in the 72nd percentile among qualified pitchers last year with a 6.9 percent walk rate. Luzardo has four quality pitches and is only improving, so fantasy managers shouldn't put too much stock into his 2020 campaign. There's injury risk and a potential innings cap in 2021, but Luzardo is an extremely high-upside third starter to target in fantasy drafts.
