Jeremy Pena Resting Against Toronto
2 years agoHouston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena is getting a day of rest on Wednesday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Pena could use a day off after going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to Toronto. It was Pena's second hitless game of the month, but he's otherwise gone 6-for-25 (.240) with a double, two walks and nine strikeouts to begin June in six contests. In his second major-league campaign, the 25-year-old Dominican shortstop is batting .250 (58-for-232) with 14 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, 26 RBI, six stolen bases and 35 runs scored in 253 plate appearances and 60 games. Mauricio Dubon is starting at the 6 and hitting leadoff on Wednesday against Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt. Dubon has earned plenty of playing time in 2023 by hitting .294 (55-for-187) with two homers, 11 RBI and three steals.
