Jeimer Candelario Returns On Monday
1 year agoWashington Nationals third baseman Jeimer Candelario (thumb) is back at third base and is hitting third in the batting order on Monday against St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Jack Flaherty. Candelario suffered a bone bruise in his thumb on Saturday and didn't play on Sunday, but he'll wind up only missing one game over the weekend. The 29-year-old former Detroit Tiger has been sluggish with the lumber so far in June, going 10-for-46 (.217) with six doubles, one home run, five RBI, a stolen base and seven runs scored so far in 13 games played. However, he is currently on a three-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-12 (.500) with four doubles and a stolen base.
