6 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Jay Bruce (elbow) will play for Double-A Reading on Friday and Saturday and is expected to come off the injured list when rosters expand on Sunday, Sept. 1. Bruce won't throw initially and will only be used as a pinch-hitter. Bruce hasn't played in the bigs since Aug. 8. He's been a solid source of power (24 homers) and RBI (57), but his average (.228) and on-base percentage (.276) leave a lot to be desired. With fantasy playoffs quickly approaching in most leagues, Bruce is unlikely to move the needle much to close out the season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
