6/1:2018 has not been kind to New York Mets outfielder Jay Bruce, likely due to the plantar fasciitis condition in his left foot, but over the last few days the season has been a little nicer to him. He may have had an essentially meaningless 1-for-3 finish in a 5-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, but he’s at least shown some signs of life recently. He’s picked up hits in five of his last seven games, including two extra-base hits, which may not sound like much, but for Bruce, it’s better than anything else he’s doing lately. We’ll need to see some home runs out of Bruce before thinking he’s fantasy viable again, but there’s at least some signs of progress.--John Smith
