Javonte Williams Leads Broncos In Rushing In Week 5
3 years agoDenver Broncos rookie running back Javonte Williams had one fewer carry than backfield mate Melvin Gordon in the 27-19 Week 5 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he led the team with 61 rushing yards on his eight carries (7.6 yards per carry). Williams also caught all three of his targets for an additional 25 yards in the passing game. Both Williams and Gordon each had 11 touches, but the rookie was much more effective and explosive. It's clear that the 21-year-old second-rounder has a more explosive element to his game out of the backfield, but these two backs continue to be neck and neck in terms of weekly touches and snap counts. As long as the two keep splitting the touches right down the middle, they'll have their fantasy ceilings capped.
