Javonte Williams Handles Five Carries In Preseason Opener
3 years agoDenver Broncos rookie running back Javonte Williams handled just five carries for 29 yards in the preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings last Saturday. With Melvin Gordon III nursing a groin injury, Williams was the first running back to touch the ball and was efficient with his work, averaging 5.8 yards per carry while showing his elusiveness and speed. The 21-year-old North Carolina product managed to find the end zone, but the play was nullified by a penalty. Williams was one of the coaching staff's favorite draft picks this year, and he figures to open the season sharing touches with Gordon. Many expect Williams to eventually became the team's go-to back in his rookie season, which is why he's currently going two spots ahead of Gordon with an ADP of 27 among running backs.
