Javonte Williams Earning A Bigger Role?
3 years agoFantasy managers are patiently waiting for Denver Broncos rookie running back Javonte Williams to earn a bigger role in this backfield. Melvin Gordon III has seen 54.8 percent of the offensive snaps over two games, compared to 45.2 percent for Williams. However, the rookie has three more carries than Gordon and 109 rushing yards in two contests. Williams also had plus-10 rush yards over expectation on his 13 carries for 64 yards in the Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. This backfield remains a near-even timeshare between the two, but Williams has looked like the more explosive back in the early going. If that continues, it would be a surprise if the 21-year-old didn't begin to see a larger snap share. In a good matchup against the New York Jets in Week 3, Williams will remain an upside RB3/flex with a good chance for his first career touchdown.
