Javier Baez Sidelined With Left Hamstring Tightness
Javier Baez (hamstring) left Thursday’s game with tightness in his left hamstring. There is no word on how long Baez is expected to be out and if his chances of playing Opening Day are in doubt. Infielder/outfielder Ben Zobrist will assume the second base job in the meantime with infielder Tommy La Stella getting some looks. Second baseman/outfielder Ian Happ has been focusing on the outfield this spring, but also has experience at second base. We will have to wait to see how long Baez is out before determining how this affects his draft stock in 2018.
