Jarren Duran Takes A Seat Against Lefty
1 year agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is starting Friday's game against the Detroit Tigers on the bench with left-hander Tarik Skubal on the mound for Detroit. In Duran's absence, Rob Refsnyder will start in left field and bat leadoff for Boston in the series opener. Adam Duvall will shift to center field. Duran has been excellent for the BoSox in 2023 with his .300/.350/.495 slash line that also includes an .845 OPS, eight home runs, 40 RBI, 23 stolen bases and 44 runs scored in 313 at-bats. However, the 26-year-old left-handed hitter has struggled against southpaws of late and has six hits in 33 at-bats (.182) with two homers, two doubles, five RBI, eight strikeouts and three runs scored in nine games (eight starts) so far in the month of August. He could use a day off.
