Jamie Collins 2020 Outlook: Versatile Linebacker That Lacks True Pass-Rushing Skills
5 years agoLions head coach Matt Patricia reunites with Jamie Collins in Detroit after Patricia previously served as Collins' defensive coordinator in New England. The versatile chess piece was used on the line of scrimmage and as both an inside and outside linebacker by the Patriots. But Collins isn't a natural pass-rusher and thrives more as a blitzer, which limits his IDP ceiling. The 30-year-old veteran has proven to be valuable in coverage against tight ends and running backs. He had 81 tackles (58 solo), 10 tackles for loss, 10 QB hits, a career-high seven sacks, three interceptions (one TD), three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in his final stint in New England to finish as the No. 12-scoring fantasy linebacker in 2019. Collins' versatility makes him a favorite for defensive coordinators, but his weaknesses as a true pass-rusher limit his overall upside in IDP formats.
