James Karinchak Records Fourth Save On Tuesday
4 years agoCleveland Indians relief pitcher James Karinchak closed out Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels to earn his fourth save of the year. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one walk and no hits while striking out one. Karinchak and Emmanuel Clase now have two saves each in May, though Clase leads Karinchak 7-4 on the year. Curiously, Bryan Shaw pitched against the heart of the Angels' order in the eighth inning in this game, retiring Shohei Ohtani, Anthony Rendon and Jared Walsh in order before giving way to Karinchak, who usually pitches against a team's top hitters. Karinchak has value in numerous fantasy leagues due to his 0.49 ERA, 0.49 WHIP and 51.5% strikeout rate. His save opportunities may come and go, but he should help in ratios and strikeouts all year.
