James Conner Could Have Heavy Workload In 2023
1 year agoThe Athletic's Doug Haller writes that with Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (knee) injured, it's hard to know what to expect of the Cardinals offense early in the year. Arizona would be smart to keep the ball on the ground as much as possible, which would mean a heavy dose of running back James Conner. The 28-year-old has proved he can perform at a high level heading into his seventh NFL season. He had 973 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021 and rushed for 752 yards and 15 TDs with Arizona in 2022. If he can stay healthy, he'll at least have the volume to make him a low-end RB2/high-end RB3 in fantasy. Conner surely has a nose for the end zone, but how often will the Cardinals get there without Murray. And his injury history gives him a scary floor.
