Jake Lamb Agrees With Braves
4 years agoThe Atlanta Braves agreed to an undisclosed one-year deal with free-agent corner infielder Jake Lamb on Sunday. The 30-year-old left-handed slugger had 59 home runs and an .843 OPS for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2016 and 2017, but he has battled multiple injuries in the last three seasons. After he hit 30 long balls in his All-Star season in 2017, Lamb had a left rotator cuff issue that limited him to 56 games in 2018. He had season-ending surgery in August of that year and strained his left quadriceps less than two weeks into the 2019 campaign. He hit just .116 with a .380 OPS in 18 games in 2020 before being designated for assignment. Lamb hit .267 with three homers in 49 plate appearances with the A's after being cut by Arizona. Lamb should serve as a backup at third and first base behind Austin Riley and Freddie Freeman, respectively.
