Jake Cronenworth Leaves After Hit By Pitch
1 year agoSan Diego Padres infielder Jake Cronenworth (wrist) left Friday night's game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the top of the ninth inning after he was hit by a pitch in his right wrist area. He was replaced by Jose Azocar, who entered as a pinch-runner. Before leaving early, Cronenworth had gone 1-for-3 in the eventual 7-3 loss. This didn't look good for the 29-year-old left-handed hitter, and he was in a considerable amount of pain before walking off the field. Cronenworth is highly unlikely to be in Saturday's lineup, and fantasy managers may want to prepare for an extended absence, depending on what tests show on his wrist. If Cronenworth is forced to the injured list because of this injury, Garrett Cooper would see more starts at first base in San Diego. Cronenworth entered Friday's game with a disappointing .229 average with just 10 homers and six steals in 2023.
