Jaguars Visiting With C.J. Beathard
4 years agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars are hosting free-agent quarterback C.J. Beathard on a tryout, per the league's transaction wire. Everybody knows that the Jaguars are highly likely to take Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence as their franchise signal-caller with the first overall pick in next month's draft. However, Gardner Minshew II, who was benched last season, has been receiving trade interest and could be dealt. If that were to happen, Jake Luton would be the team's only QB on the roster. Beathard would provide some valuable depth after posting a 105.7 passer rating while throwing six touchdowns and no interceptions in the final six games for the San Francisco 49ers in 2020. While Beathard has been serviceable in relief as a backup, things could get ugly in Jacksonville if they sign him and he's forced to start at any point.
