Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery to fix a tear in his right UCL. The Rangers shifted deGrom to the 60-day injured list on Monday, and now we know why. The oft-injured 34-year-old right-hander will now miss the rest of the 2023 season and most likely most, if not all, of the 2024 campaign. After landing deGrom as a big free-agent prize in the offseason, the Rangers will only end up getting six starts out of him in 2023. He'll finish the year with a 2-0 record, 2.67 ERA (1.57 FIP), 0.76 WHIP, fur walks and 45 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings. The four-time All-Star and two-time National League Cy Young winner can now be safely dropped in single-year fantasy leagues.--Keith Hernandez
