Jacob deGrom Dominates In Thursday's Outing
4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom routinely hit triple digits on the radar gun and struck out seven of the nine Astros hitters that he faced on Thursday in spring training. One scout clocked the right-hander as high as 102 mph. "Totally dominated," the scout wrote. In context, deGrom faced an Astros lineup that mostly consisted of bench players and minor-leaguers in three perfect innings of work. The Mets Opening Day starter has become one of the hardest-throwing pitchers in baseball and is a bona fide ace. Already a two-time Cy Young winner, deGrom had a 2.38 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 68 innings in the shortened 2020 season. The 32-year-old is showing no decline in his game and is the consensus top pitcher off the board in fantasy drafts.
