J.T. Realmuto Cleared For Baseball Activities
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (thumb), who is recovering from a fractured right thumb, was cleared to begin baseball activities on Thursday. Manager Joe Girardi said that the catcher made around 40 throws, took 10 dry swings and 20 swings off a tee, reporting "no issues." Realmuto will continue to wear a protective splint on his thumb when he's not on the field. The Phillies aren't declaring that Realmuto will be ready on Opening Day on April 1, but Thursday's news gives them hope that the All-Star backstop will be ready. The top fantasy catcher had his cast removed last week. Even if he's not ready by April 1, Realmuto should be back soon after that, making him still worth being drafted as the No. 1 fantasy catcher.
