J.T. Realmuto Catches Bullpen Over The Weekend
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (thumb) is dealing with a broken right thumb, but manager Joe Girardi said that he was able to catch reliever Brandon Kintzler's bullpen session on Saturday. Realmuto was also able to hit with his left hand and handle pop-ups while backing up the bases. The Phillies are hoping that he'll be ready by Opening Day on April 1 against the division-rival Braves. The 29-year-old All-Star is still considered the best backstop in the game, and as of now, he's still on track to be ready for the regular season. If Realmuto's ADP drops at all because of his injury, fantasy managers should be looking to take advantage after he posted career-bests in barrel rate, hard-hit percentage and walk rate in the shortened 2020 season. Realmuto should be the first catcher off the board in fantasy drafts despite his injury.
