Irv Smith Jr. Suffers High-Ankle Sprain
2 years agoThe initial belief is that Minnesota Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. (ankle) suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Week 8 win over the Arizona Cardinals, according to sources. The Vikings are still sorting out Smith's timetable, but there's a good chance that he'll miss some game action moving forward. High-ankle sprains can sideline players anywhere from two to six weeks, so fantasy managers should expect to be without Smith at least for Week 9 against the Washington Commanders. The 24-year-old caught all four of his targets for 28 yards before leaving on Sunday. Johnny Mundt, who caught his only pass for a touchdown, could become an interesting touchdown-dependent TE2 streamer if Smith misses any time, but Jacob Hollister could be involved as well at the position in Minnesota.
