Ian Kennedy Is Bad
7 years agoIan Kennedy was terrible last year. Finishing with a record of 5-13 and a 5.38 ERA, it was Kennedy’s worst year in a decade and probably resulted in unemployment for whoever recommended KC extend Kennedy’s contract before the 2016 season. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of good news for 2018 either. Sure, Kennedy got a bit unlucky in 2017 by only stranding 68% of runners and allowing a staggering 1.99 HR/9, but those aren’t likely to improve so dramatically that he becomes a good pitcher again. If true believers want something to grasp at, they can opt for the fact that Kennedy pitches better in even-number years, but pitchers whose only positive is based on superstition really shouldn’t be owned.
