Ian Desmond Scores Winning Run
6 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Ian Desmond lifted a ball to right-center in the 11th inning on Monday that seemed to be a walk-off home run. It wasn't called that way initially though, so Desmond chugged into second while he and the rest of the Rockies bench looked supremely confused and made motions towards the umpires. It was fortunate Desmond had decided to leg it out because upon review, the drive directly hit the yellow line on top of the wall, and everyone got to learn that such a shot must clear the yellow line to count as a homer, not hit it. Desmond would fortunately get driven in by the next hitter, Raimel Tapia, and the Rockies would nail down their third walk-off win of the home stand.
