Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma has been shut down after feeling soreness in his right shoulder over the weekend, per MLB.com. Iwakuma's simulated game on Saturday lasted only seven or eight pitches before his shoulder began barking and the outing was scrapped. Iwakuma had offseason shoulder surgery on his pitching shoulder after failing to get himself healthy enough to get off the disabled list in 2017. He went only 0-2 with a 4.35 ERA last season after posting a 63-39 record and a 3.42 ERA over 136 starts from 2012-16. Iwakuma will back off and try and ramp it up again and if he can contribute anything to the major league roster this season, that would be a bonus. Sadly, Iwakuma is looking less and less likely he will see the field in 2018.--Joey C - RotoBaller
