Gregory Polanco Breaks Wrist In Winter Ball
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco (wrist) suffered a fractured right wrist while playing in the Dominican Winter League with the Leones del Escogido, according to the team's general manager. The injury is deemed a small non-displaced fracture of the triquetrum bone. Polanco will have his wrist immobilized for a small period of time and is expected to be ready to take part in full baseball activities by spring training. So it looks like Polanco's injury could've been much worse, but he's also coming off a rough season in which he slashed .153/.214/.325 with seven home runs and 22 RBI in 50 games. The 29-year-old tested positive for COVID-19 and got a late start to the shortened season. Polanco was hitting just .197/.276/.342 with two homers and nine RBI in 21 games in the Dominican before his injury. Even though he should be ready for the start of the season, Polanco's fantasy stock continues to plummet.
