Greg Allen Begins Rehab Assignment
1 year agoNew York Yankees outfielder Greg Allen (hip) took live at-bats against lefty Nestor Cortes on July 9 at Yankee Stadium and began a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Friday. He was expected to miss six to eight weeks after suffering a right hip-flexor strain on June 2. Allen was placed on the 10-day injured list the following day on June 3. The 30-year-old may only need a couple of rehab games before being activated from the injured list, which means he could return as major-league outfield depth for the Yankees by next week. Allen carries very little fantasy appeal when he's healthy. He was hitting .214 (3-for-14) with a home run, triple, an RBI, one stolen base and five runs scored in 10 games at the time of his injury.
