New York Yankees infielder Gleyber Torres continued his rapid rise on Friday as he single-handedly carried his club’s offense to victory. The 21-year-old first played a prominent role at the plate in the second inning, stepping up with the bases loaded and subsequently driving in a run with an infield single. Later, he stepped up in the seventh inning, with the score tied at one run. He would smash a home run to right, becoming the younger player in American League history to hit a home run in four consecutive games. The second run of the game for the Yankees would be the winning run, as the bullpen held on for a tight, one-run victory. For the season, he’s now hitting .323 with eight home runs and 22 RBI.--RDelgado
