2 years agoNew York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres (illness) is starting at second base and is batting third in Game 1 of the American League Division Series on Tuesday against Cleveland Guardians right-hander Cal Quantrill. Torres wasn't available to close out the regular season, but he rested up last week and is ready to go for the team's first playoff game of 2022. The 25-year-old finished the year off strong, hitting .323 (31-for-96) with six home runs, 25 RBI, 16 runs scored and four stolen bases in 24 games dating back to Sept. 2. Overall, the two-time All-Star batted .257/.310/.451 with 24 home runs, 76 RBI, 73 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 572 plate appearances and 140 games for the Yanks.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
