St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Giovanny Gallegos is on his way to St. Louis and will try to be part of the team's Saturday workout. Gallegos hasn't been with the team in summer camp due to travel issues, so it remains to see how ready he'll be for the start of the regular season next Friday. But there's no denying he has a great opportunity to be the team's primary closer this year, what with Jordan Hicks opting out this year and Carlos Martinez now penciled into the starting rotation. Ryan Helsley could be a dark-horse candidate, but Gallegos should be the favorite after posting a 2.31 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a 127:24 K:BB ratio over 105 2/3 innings last season.
